11th ISKA WORLD CUP - Liverpool, Sydney
23rd October 2011

Liverpool Sydney was the venue for the 11th World cup to be held in Australia with four members from Team Dragon competing.

1st up Saturday 22nd of October saw Coach Pete Cook perform well below par - bad start for the team.
Sunday 23rd all 4 competing in the fighting.

Next came James Taylor Edwards, 15 yrs in only his third fight. He took it all the way to a draw in the semi, with the 1st one to score, James was unlucky but a very promising performance.

Leila Bloomfield 14 yrs in her 1st International competition was next up in the semi and she took her first 3 fights with ease. As the fights went on she looked good for a trophy. A draw in the quarter finals again saw a 1st to score with Leila unfortunately missing out. She then had to fight for 3rd place and the same result was to happen.

Enter Phoebe Coleman 13yrs with 7 years experience. Phoebe - who is the 1st to admit Semi is not her best - preferring the continuous and full contact but she was on fire, taking all who went against her to reach the final. Defiantly the 2 best girls in the section with point for point, the result could have gone either way and Phoebe missed out on the coveted 1st place, but still a great result.

Pete Cook was next firing on all cylinders. Unfortunately this was not to be his weekend as he missed out by a point. Even so, he said he was very happy with his performance: "I thought it was the best I had performed in 10 years."

Next up was all 3 students in Full Fontact. This time the ruling was against us, as contact to the head was only allowed by kicks (hands not allowed!) All three in succession were disqualified.

Coach Pete Cook went on to say, "I was very happy with all performances apart from my own on the Saturday. We all had good fights and have learned a lot from this tournament. We are all going to the Australian finals at the same venue in December, and hope to have implemented some changes re contact etc…"
